What gets signed
The endpoint
The exact receiving address and resource in the x402 challenge.
The accountable person
The person who answers for the endpoint, identity-verified at onboarding by the identity provider at the issuer boundary. For a company, its details are that person's declaration. This is who is responsible.
The issuer's deposit
The guarantee deposit the issuer holds on the network under published rules; while it is below the published minimum, the positive verdict is withheld. You place no deposit.
Accountability you can check
x402 payments cannot be reversed. A wronged buyer has no chargeback.
The issuer's deposit is read on every re-check, and the operator behind the endpoint is identified: a buyer who is harmed knows who answers, and its remedies are those the law gives it against that operator.
A name alone is a claim. A name that answers, with the issuer's standing on the public record, is a counterparty.
What the verdict says
- An accountable, identity-verified person stands behind this endpoint.
- The issuer's guarantee deposit is at or above the published minimum.
- The attestation is current, inside its assurance tier.
Your endpoint, inside the trust perimeter
Once attested, your endpoint is inside the trust perimeter, and your 402 response can say so to every agent that reads it:

You decide the level you offer agents in the trust-perimeter key beside the identity policy of your 402 response: welcome or preferred. Neither changes the payment flow. Requiring attested agents is a choice you make on your own verifier, never our default. The free verdict on your endpoint stays free to everyone regardless.
